Creating connects me to the Universe in a way I can’t explain. To realize I am just a piece of it all. We all are. And that’s enough.

The inspiration for these pieces comes from moments of familiarity; moments that seem to come from another lifetime, in another dimension. Specific feelings and visions that are a part of me in some way. Moments and spaces that I can’t quite put words to.

There is something so beautiful in the idea that we are the accumulation of other people’s energy, and in a way we are all connected. At the end of it all, we are just the stories we carry with us.

This piece represents my yearning to return to the moments of my childhood when I felt free, before the pressures of growing up felt so suffocating and inescapable. To return to the summer day I spent roller blading in the driveway.

Captain Russeaux represents that internal desire to abandon the expectations put on us as we grow, and to return to a place of authenticity, love, and presence.

Recently I have been struggling to create - making art feels forced and I feel stuck creatively. I asked twitter how they deal with creative block and received so many helpful responses. So I compiled a list to share with everyone - and to return to the next time I’m dealing with creative block.

Realms of Reflection is about coming to terms with the past and finding beauty throughout the entire journey, even in the darkest moments.
